"You don't have to commit to a destination today. Just be curious enough to explore the paths available to you."

Ready to explore your options?

.

If you're here, there is a good chance that alcohol has become a concern in your life.

Perhaps you've started asking yourself questions:

  • Am I drinking more than I used to?
  • Why do I find it difficult to stop once I start?
  • Why do I keep making promises to cut back and then struggle to keep them?
  • Is alcohol affecting my health, relationships, finances, or happiness?
  • Could life be better without it?

  1. You don't need to have all the answers today.
  2. You don't need to decide whether you are an "alcoholic."
  3. You don't need to commit to any particular programme, belief, or recovery pathway.
  4. The fact that you are willing to ask questions about your drinking is already a positive step.

At The Sober Compass, we believe that recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Different approaches help different people. Some people find support in Alcoholics Anonymous, Secular and the traditional. Others prefer other secular recovery groups, therapy, SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma, or a combination of several approaches.

Our aim is not to tell you what to choose.

Our aim is to help you understand the options available so that you can make an informed decision about what might work best for you.

Think of this website as a compass rather than a map.

We cannot tell you exactly where your journey will lead, but we can help point you towards a range of possible directions and provide information that may help you find your own path.

Take your time.

Explore.

Read.

Attend a meeting if you wish.

Listen to the experiences of others.

Keep what helps and leave behind what doesn't.

Whatever path you choose, remember this

You are not alone, and change is possible

"Different paths. Shared destination."
